The Hameau de Pramousquier and the Apartments
Insiders and employees of Pierre et Vacances, the largest holiday resort manager in Europe (120,000 beds), say that Pramousquier is the most beautiful holiday residency they manage on the Côte d'Azur and the French Riviera. We haven't seen many of their resorts and therefore don't know if this is true, but we know how difficult it was to rent an apartment here at the time when we were not owners (the residency is always sold out between June and September).
The residency is built on a one and a half acre piece of ground limited by the cornice on the upper side and the beach on the lower side, with shady century-old pine trees on the shore. The 2 apartments for rent described here are among the very few of the residency directly facing the beach. Downhill under the trees, the Chef of "Café Bleu" Pierre who is a native "Maurian" prepares croissants and pains au chocolat each morning (for tasting at the Café or at home), and his on-site restaurant is one of the very best ones in the region for local fish dishes like "Bourride" or "Bouillabaisse". Owners who have a boat appreciate him for preparing lunch or dinner with the fishes they catched in the morning. Pierre's Café Bleu is open from March 1 through September 30. Next to the Café, the local office of the French Sailing Club offers (for rental) all kinds of wind boards and sailing boats, including a 22 ft. catamaran with 4 tiny sleeping cabins (Raid 22) for those who wish to add a few days of Mediterranean cruising to their journey.
Our beach is one of the only two private beaches in France (the second one being in Brittany), except for the wet part of beach sand that by general law is public property in France. So the beach is yours, but there is no fence or any other kind of separation as it is never very crowded, and anyway residents usually prefer relaxing in the exotic garden or near the pool for children.
The garden: Due to the history of the property, the garden has become one of the most fancy private ones of the Côte : The former owner was a landscape gardener who sold his property to Pierre et Vacances at the condition of being in charge of the garden and arranging it at his taste for at long as he could work. He didn't need to work at all after selling his piece of land for millions, but wanted to do so as he was very gifted, and moreover he didn't hesitate to spend huge amounts of (Pierre et Vacances') money for his tasteful fantasies. So now we owe him what Pierre et Vacances in their advertisements call "a piece of paradise", that is his most wonderful garden on the verge of the most beautiful beach!
Our apartments are located on the second floor of the 3-floor Garance building (apts 4103 and 4104). Parking lots are provided for cars (#24 and 51) in the "parking rose" underground parking under the Magenta building on the upper (cornice) part of the property. There is a trolley-path (no stairs) on the left hand side for handicapped persons or taking down luggage.
Management: Most apartments of this residency (130 out of 155 apts.) are still managed by Pierre et Vacances, but a few have been sold or retained by their owners after the expiry of the initial 11-years management contract with this company, owners then being free to continue their contract or not. Our 2 apts. fall into the latter category, just like a larger part of those with the best locations and exposures within the residency (and a record in the Garance building). These apts. are not managed by Pierre et Vacances, but by a local agency.
